experience

My interest in animals showed up at a very early age. Thanks to my mom and dad, I grew up with dogs by my side. This passion led me to volunteer in an animal shelter and to work many years in veterinarian clinics. In 1996, as a young adult, I began to read and show interest in German Shepherd dogs. One year later, I was handling my first Shepherd in my first obedience competition. Unfortunately, the German Shepherd we had did not have the motivation and nerves to be a working dog. After some investigation, I discovered the sport of Schutzhund (now IPO) and I bought my first Shepherd from these bloodlines. More than 20 years later, I am still very involved in training and competitions. I like to share knowledge with other trainers and breeders, to watch other dogs being trained, to train my own dogs and to understand what makes a good working prospect.

dogs I have trained and handled :

OTCh. Winkamy de Lescaut
CGN, HIC, AGN, Ring 1
A Groenendael with explosive energy, very fast, very strong prey drive, extreme food drive. Yes, Kamy has a lot of drive but she is not blinded by it. During the learning process, she knows how to be calm and focussed. In training, she has never refused a single working exercice. She likes everything, she likes to work, period. Kamy will be trained in detection in 2019.

Xenon, call name Zen, has wonderful working ability. Very strong and deep-full bite, fighting drive, enthusiasm, energetic, excellent food/play and hunt drive. Overall, an all around easy dog. Sociable in public places, clear headed, everyone can approch and pet him. Very capable of agressively protecting his territory. At 11 years old, he is now retired from competition and enjoying his life as a spoiled house dog and protector.

→ Earned the SPr1 title (IPO1 protection) under judge Amanda Hoskinson (USA) with an excellent rated score of 96/100. Helper : Steve Clark.
Judge's comments : "Goes around the blinds very fast, very direct, circles tightly, she comes into the blind and goes very close to the helper, she is clean, very consistent barking and purposeful. When the handler approaches, she stays very focussed to the helper. Obedience is correct. When the helper tries an escape, she goes very fast, hits very hard, bites full and maintains that under pressure. The out is clean. On the re-attack, she grips full and I do like a dog with fight drive and she has a lot of fight! Today, she showed pronounced courage and fight drive, in the V(excellent) category with 96 %."

OTCh. SG- Assan v Bullinger
BH, AD, CGN
Assan, the dog with nerves of steel. I've never, ever seen this dog being afraid of something. Despite his strong nerves, he was co-operative with me. A very serious dog from early age, he did have the required drives to be a protection and search/rescue dog. Unfortunately, hips and elbows problems interfered with his working career otherwise, he would have been a top, useful working dog.

VP- Olk v Bullinger
This dog's life ended too early, however, I had the chance to train and handle him in conformation. At 11 months, he died under anesthesia during a PennHIP procedure. The autopsy revealed he died from a heart arrest but that his heart was normal. This was the last time I did a PennHIP procedure on one of my dogs.
